How to play Thanksgiving bingo
Thanksgiving bingo fills the hour between "almost ready" and "time to eat." The word list covers the feast (stuffing, gravy, pecan pie), the day (the parade, the football game, the nap on the couch) and the season. Kids can play with the caller, or you can turn it into "dinner bingo" where players mark squares as they actually happen during the meal. It is also an easy classroom activity for the short school week before the holiday, when attention spans are already on break.
- Print a card for each player. Two per page is a good size for small hands at a crowded table.
- Classic game: call words with the on-screen caller. Dinner version: no caller, players mark things as they spot them.
- First line wins. In the dinner version, the winner has to point at the proof.
Tips for a better game
- Add family in-jokes to the list: "Uncle tells the fishing story" makes everyone laugh when it lands.
- Give a prize that fits the day, such as first pick of the pie or a pass on dish duty.
- Classroom version: 5Γ5 cards and the caller on the projector keep 25 kids busy for a full period.
- Celebrating with friends instead? Friendsgiving bingo is built for potlucks. For a thankful-themed class activity, try gratitude bingo.
