How to play book club bingo
Book club bingo is played during the discussion. Squares are moments that happen at almost every meeting: someone didn't finish, someone reads a favorite quote aloud, a debate breaks out about a character, the movie adaptation comes up. It keeps the evening fun without taking over, and it gently nudges quieter members to share a quote or a hot take.
- Put a card at each seat with the drinks and snacks.
- During the discussion, mark squares as they happen. You can make a square happen yourself, which is half the fun.
- The first line wins the next book pick.
Tips for a better game
- Add squares for this month's book: a character name, a setting, a famous line.
- Use 4×4 cards for a shorter meeting or a smaller group.
- Reading challenge idea: make a "read a book that..." card (set in another country, under 200 pages) and keep it for the year.
