How to play states & capitals bingo
States and capitals bingo is a geography review game where the cards show capitals and the caller reads the states. Students have to know (or work out) that Iowa means Des Moines before they can cover it. The preset includes all 50 states, so each card holds a different mix of 24 capitals plus a free space. A full game reviews most of the map.
- Give each student a card and a US map to check answers after the game, not during.
- Call a state, pause, then move on. The capital shows small on your screen.
- Winners read their line back as pairs: "Austin, Texas".
Tips for a better game
- Flip it around: write lines as "Austin = Texas" to put states on the cards and call capitals.
- Teaching one region at a time? Delete the other states from the word box and play 4×4.
- Tricky capitals (Pierre, Montpelier, Frankfort) make good bonus questions for the winner.
