How to play science vocabulary bingo
Science vocab bingo is a fast review before a unit test. The caller reads a definition ("Water vapor turning into liquid") and students find the term ("condensation") on their card. The preset covers 32 terms that come up across upper elementary and middle school: the water cycle, rock types, food chains, energy, forces and the scientific method. Every card is different, so neighbors can't copy.
- Print 5×5 cards, 2 per page, so the terms are big enough to read at a glance.
- Read definitions from the caller. Leave time to think, and don't say the term.
- When a student gets bingo, they explain one of their terms in their own words before claiming the prize.
- Check the card number in the caller to confirm every square was called.
Tips for a better game
- Swap in your own unit's glossary as "definition = term" lines. Ten minutes of setup gives you a reusable review game.
- Keep the call list printout. The words students missed show you what to reteach.
- For mixed levels, let students keep their notes open for the first round.
