How to play New Year's Eve bingo
New Year's Eve parties have a long stretch between dinner and the countdown. Bingo fills it without anyone having to learn rules. This list mixes party things (sparklers, noisemakers, glitter) with moments (a toast, a resolution, "Auld Lang Syne"), so you can play it the classic way with a caller or as a spot-it game that runs all night.
- Hand out cards as guests arrive, with a pen tied to a ribbon if you want it to feel fancy.
- For a called game, run the caller around 10 or 11 pm so it ends before the countdown.
- For a spot-it game, players mark moments as they happen, and the first line before midnight wins.
Tips for a better game
- Party favors make easy prizes: a tiara, a noisemaker, a fancy cup of sparkling cider.
- Family-friendly party? "Sparkling cider" is already on the list instead of anything stronger.
- Kids can play an early "noon year's eve" round at 12 pm and still go to bed on time.
- Hand out resolution bingo goal cards at midnight. They give everyone something to do with the new year besides one big promise.
