How to play Christmas song bingo
Christmas song bingo puts carol titles on the cards and gives the caller a famous line from each one. Read "Dashing through the snow" and players look for Jingle Bells; read "Star of wonder, star of night" and they look for We Three Kings. The 28 songs are traditional carols and seasonal songs whose words are in the public domain, so you can print and sing them anywhere, including at church, school and senior centers. It also works as name-that-tune: play a few seconds of each song instead of reading the line.
- Print a card for each player. Larger print (1 or 2 per page) suits song titles, which can be long.
- Open the caller and read the lyric shown, or play or sing the opening bars. The title shows small on your screen.
- Players cover the matching carol. The winner reads their titles back, and the group sings one chorus of their choice.
Tips for a better game
- Name-that-tune version: make a playlist in the same order as the caller so you can play and call at once.
- Have a choir or a pianist? Ask them to play each carol live. It is the best version of this game.
- Add Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or New Year songs in the word box as "lyric = title" lines for a mixed holiday crowd.
