How to play birthday party bingo
Kids' parties need one game that settles the room. Birthday bingo uses words every guest knows (cake, balloons, sprinkles, piñata), so even six-year-olds can play without help. It defaults to 4×4 cards so a round takes about ten minutes, which suits young attention spans. Older kids can play 5×5 with a free space.
- Print 2 or 4 cards per page and cut them apart. Card stock holds up to sticky fingers.
- Give out small stickers or cereal pieces as markers.
- Call words with the caller on a phone or tablet. Show the screen so kids can match the spelling.
- Everyone who gets a line picks a prize from the goody-bag pile.
Tips for a better game
- Add the birthday kid's name and favorite things to the list. They love finding themselves on the card.
- For non-readers, read each word and act it out ("Make a wish!" with a big blow).
- Let the birthday kid run the caller. It is a big job and they will take it seriously.
